Environmental Programming takes a summer break and returns with a new fall schedule in September. Check back soon for fall dates and programs.
Connect with nature through expert-led monthly sessions in conservation, native gardening, and wildlife observation. Each Tuesday evening features hands-on activities - from conservation projects to guided walks, gardening workshops, and citizen science.
Our accessible program welcomes beginners and experienced naturalists alike, creating opportunities for environmental learning and community building in Acadiana.
What to Expect
Types of Programs
Each season features a rotating mix of sessions. Here is a sample of what to expect when the program returns in September.
Nature Walks
Guided walks through Moncus Park's woodlands, prairie, and natural areas with expert naturalist leads.
Bird Walks and Surveys
Morning and evening bird observation walks with identification guides and citizen science data collection.
Conservation Club
Habitat restoration, native plant care, and stewardship projects in the park's natural areas.
Garden Talks
Workshops on native plants, Louisiana gardening, and sustainable landscaping practices.
Trail Trek
Explorations of the park's trail system with educational stops highlighting ecology and habitat.
Cultural Programs
Special sessions connecting community, culture, and the natural environment of Acadiana.
