Christmas in the Park has been postponed due to the recent inclement weather and the weather expected through noon tomorrow. “We are unable to get everything set up out in the Park when the grounds are so soft and wet. It takes a concerted effort to get Christmas in the Park up and running, and we just won’t have enough time once the rain stops and the ground is stable enough to drive on,” says Elizabeth “E.B.” Brooks, Moncus Park’s Executive Director. “The cold weather makes it feel like Christmas, but the soggy ground would not make for an enjoyable experience tomorrow night in Moncus Park.”
The new date for Christmas in the Park will be next Friday, December 15th, and everything else about this free event will stay the same. Plan to join us in one week for great music by Louisiana Red, finish up your Christmas shopping with dozens of local vendors, and delicious food and drinks both warm and cold! There will be a huge kids’ play area with fun jumps, slides, and face painting (fee charged to enter children’s area). Santa and Mrs. Claus have also changed their schedules so that they can meet us at the Park that night as well!
The event is being presented by Lafayette Roofing & General Contractors LLC. Other Christmas in the Park sponsors include Heggie Investment Partners, KLFY News 10, The Daily Advertiser, The Jefferson Street Pub, Lafayette Utilities System (LUS), LUS Fiber, Schilling Distributing Company, Southern Lifestyle Development, Legends of Lafayette, Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation, and Lafayette Coca-Cola. The event is being produced by Social Entertainment.
