Moncus Park Expands Family Adventures with New Richard and Verlie House Dreamhouse

MONCUS PARK EXPANDS FAMILY ADVENTURES WITH NEW RICHARD AND VERLIE
HOUSE DREAMHOUSE

LAFAYETTE, LA – November 26, 2024- Moncus Park celebrated the grand opening of its
newest attraction, the Richard and Verlie House Dreamhouse, on Monday, November 25th.
Located next to the Savoy Family Treehouse, this enchanting addition was made possible
through the generous support of Richard and Verlie House.

The Dreamhouse features a 400-square-foot treehouse connected to the existing Savoy
Family Treehouse via a 28-foot walkway. Young adventurers can enjoy a thrilling 12-foot
long rope bridge designed exclusively for their enjoyment. On the lower floor, an expansive
1,630-square-foot deck provides a serene gathering space, complete with custom
benches, loungers, and ambient LED lighting perfect for evening events.

The original Savoy Family Treehouse was temporarily closed during construction of the
Dreamhouse to undergo maintenance work and accommodate the expansion project. The
park learned of the possible presence of lead paint on reclaimed wood siding, which had
been sourced from the original UL Horse Farm barn as part of preserving the property’s
legacy. Following EPA and LADEQ guidelines, the park completed remediation work,
including removal and treatment of all siding materials at an offsite facility. After
reinstallation, expert testing was performed by Ritter Consulting Engineers, a LADEQ
accredited firm, and no detectable lead levels were found.

“The original treehouse and the new addition offer both a space for adventure and a venue
for creating lasting memories,” said JP MacFadyen, Executive Director of Moncus Park. “The
Dreamhouse supports our mission of connecting the community to nature and provides a
unique rental venue for everything from family gatherings to corporate events.”

This new venue is available for community rental, offering an enchanting backdrop for
various events while contributing to the park’s ongoing maintenance and development.
