What's the rain plan?
Moncus Park is an outdoor venue, so we recommend keeping weather in mind as you plan, especially heavy wind and downpours. The Doerle Pavilion isn't climate-controlled, but it has closable walls that protect your event from rain, though heavy downpours may have some impact. If rain is in the forecast for your date, you can rent additional tents from our tent provider.
How far ahead do popular dates book?
Weddings often book 6 to 12 months in advance or more, so we recommend reaching out as soon as possible to check your date. Email events@moncuspark.org or call 337.500.1177.
Can we bring our own food and beverage vendors?
All caterers and vendors who will bring any equipment or staff on site must be included on our approved vendor list. If you'd like to bring food that's prepared offsite and won't have catering staff, you're welcome to do so. We don't allow BYOB. All alcohol service must be provided by a properly permitted and insured vendor from our approved vendor list.
Can we bring our own photographers and DJs?
Yes. We recommend hiring photographers and DJs who carry insurance. Your DJ, band, or sound provider will need to follow Lafayette's noise ordinance, which limits sound to 60 dB(A) from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM and 50 dB(A) from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. If your event will go above those levels, you'll need a Sound Variance from Lafayette's Office of Alcohol and Noise Control at (337) 291-8675, and you'll need to send Moncus Park a copy at least 14 days before your event.
Can we serve alcohol at our wedding?
Yes! Whether you're planning an open bar or a cash bar, all alcohol must be served by a bartending vendor from our approved vendor list who holds a valid Louisiana ATC license. We don't allow BYOB, so guests can't bring their own drinks. Your event coordinator can share the approved vendor list.
Where do wedding guests park? Is there a prepaid parking option?
Parking is included in the price of weddings and other private events in the Doerle Pavilion. Your guests will have an exclusive parking area near the Pavilion that's reserved just for them. For events not hosted in the Doerle Pavilion, prepaid parking passes may be arranged through your dedicated event coordinator.
How much time do we get for setup and cleanup?
Monday through Friday, setup can begin as early as 8:00 AM on your event date. On Saturdays, setup begins at 2:00 PM because of our weekly farmers market. All cleanup and rental pickup must be done immediately after your event.
