Park Rules & Policies

We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience at Moncus Park. Please follow these simple rules during your visit.

In case of emergency, call 9-1-1.

General Park Use

Open 365 days a year from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Unlit areas in the back 50 acres are open from sunrise to sunset
Please respect all posted signage

Leave No Trace

Please use the labeled bins for trash and recycling
Reduce waste by packing reusable items when possible
If you pack it in, please pack it out
Help protect wildlife by keeping litter out of natural areas

Play Area

Ochsner Playground Open daily 9 AM – 9 PM

Our Lady of Lourdes Splash Pad

Spring & Summer (Mar 1 – Sept 30): 9 AM – 9 PM
Fall & Winter (Oct 1 – Feb 28): 10 AM – 6 PM
Closed Tuesdays until noon for cleaning

Hours may vary due to weather or maintenance.

Prohibited Items

To protect our plants, wildlife, and peaceful atmosphere, please leave these items at home:

No smoking or vaping (including tobacco, e-cigarettes, vaporizers)
No glass containers
No open flames, grills, or BBQs without a permit
No firearms, fireworks, or noisemaking devices
No balloons, confetti, or destructive decor
No unauthorized drones or aircraft - FAA regulations apply. Email info@moncuspark.org to request flight permission.

Pets

Pets must be on-leash at all times, except in the off-leash dog parks

Photography & Drones

Casual photography is welcome at Moncus Park. You're welcome to take photos of individuals, families, or the scenery during your visit. We encourage you to tag @moncuspark when sharing your photos online.

Mini sessions - defined as back-to-back photo bookings that involve props, tents, or staging - require a rental reservation in advance. All professional photo sessions that include large equipment or set-ups must be approved ahead of time. Please email events@moncuspark.org for more information or to request approval.

For the safety and comfort of all guests, drone use is not permitted at Moncus Park. In rare circumstances, drone use may be considered with prior written approval only. Requests must be submitted in advance by emailing info@moncuspark.org. Unauthorized drone use is not allowed.

Security

Moncus Park prioritizes the safety and security of all visitors
Private security patrols the park grounds from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Moncus Park maintains close collaboration with local law enforcement to ensure a safe and secure environment, especially during large-scale events

Park hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. All unimproved & unlit areas are open from sunrise to sunset. The Play Area is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Use the park at your own risk.
Please keep Moncus Park clean! Dispose of your trash & recyclables in the appropriate receptacles around the park.
Dogs are welcome in the Park and must always remain on their leash, except in the dog park. Pet owners are required to pick up after their pets.
Bikes, skates, scooters, and skateboards are allowed on concrete paths only.
Motorized vehicles, except for wheelchairs, are prohibited.
Informal sports are allowed (excluding the use of cleats and equipment). Golfing activities are prohibited. All other organized sports are not allowed without prior approval and permit - moncuspark.org/events.
Smoking of any kind is prohibited (including all smoking tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaporizers).
Lawful consumption of alcohol is allowed only if purchased from an approved, licensed on-site vendor.
Glass containers are prohibited.
No open flames, including barbeque pits and gas grills/boilers.
The use of firearms and other noisemaking devices is prohibited.
Flowers, trees, plants, and park furniture & fixtures shall not be removed, disturbed, or destroyed.
Wildlife (including birds, reptiles, and amphibians) shall not be hunted, trapped, molested, destroyed or fed.
Be respectful of other park guests and neighbors; control your noise level. Amplified sound requires a permit - moncuspark.org/events.
Park areas may require closures from time to time. Use of closed areas of the park may be considered trespassing or potential destruction of park property.
Certain areas of the park are available for private rental or unique events. Please visit moncuspark.org/events for a permit.
Soliciting money or donations, distributing advertising pamphlets, brochures, or any promotional, commercial, religious, or political material of any kind, or offering samples of items is prohibited.
Park only in designated areas.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, drones and other aircraft are not allowed to be operated, launched, landed, or flown within Moncus Park without prior permission. This policy is in strict accordance with applicable laws, including FAA regulations. To request flight permission, please click here to submit the drone flight request form.
