Moncus Park Announces 2025 Board Leadership

LAFAYETTE, LA – Moncus Park strengthens its leadership team for 2025 with key appointments and new board members. William W. “Will” Rucks V of Rucks Investments will serve as Board Chair, with Jerry Q. Prejean, Acadiana Market President of First Horizon Bank, as Vice Chair.

“Moncus Park represents the best of what our community can achieve when we work together,” shares Rucks. “With hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, it’s clear this park has become essential to Lafayette’s quality of life. I’m honored to serve as Board Chair and continue building on the incredible foundation laid by our supporters, staff, and community partners.”

Rucks brings significant leadership experience to the role as President of Rucks Investments, a Lafayette-based single-family investment office managing diversified portfolios. A Lafayette native, he serves on several nonprofit boards including the Community Foundation of Acadiana as Treasurer/Secretary, the Rucks Family Foundation, and the Children’s Museum of Acadiana. He holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Management-Entrepreneurship and an MBA from Louisiana State University.

Vice Chair Prejean adds, “Moncus Park is a cornerstone of our community, a place where families, friends, and neighbors come together to create lasting memories. As Vice Chair, my vision is to ensure the park continues to thrive as a vibrant, inclusive space that reflects the unique culture and spirit of Acadiana. I’m committed to supporting its growth and sustainability for generations to come.”

The park also welcomes two distinguished new board members:

Dr. Dee Garrett,
Pediatric Surgeon,
Board Member

– Dr. Dee Garrett, a Pediatric Surgeon, brings extensive philanthropic experience, having served on the Louisiana Emergency Response Network board, Children’s Museum of Acadiana board, United Blood Services council, Hearts of Hope board, and Acadiana Symphony Orchestra board. She is Past Chair of the Community Foundation of Acadiana and a Leadership Louisiana Class of 2018 graduate. “Moncus Park has transformed our community. As we move forward, I am thankful to be a part of the sustainability of the park and its growth,” shares Dr. Garrett.

– Alexander Lazard, Executive Director of Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority, contributes valuable expertise in community engagement, urban planning, and project management from his roles with Lafayette Consolidated Government, Destiny of Faith Church, and One Acadiana.
