MONCUS PARK UNVEILS VIBRANT SPRING SCHEDULE FULL OF FREE COMMUNITY EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Lafayette, LA – This spring, Moncus Park welcomes the community to a vibrant season filled with engaging events and activities designed to enhance our connection to nature, promote wellness, and foster unity among Acadiana residents. Collaborating with local partners and community sponsors, Moncus Park is proud to present an exciting lineup, including a seasonal celebration and Park showcase, SpringFest, Food Truck Fridays: Family Night Out, as well as an array of wellness initiatives, dog training sessions, and environmental education programs. Each event is crafted to foster meaningful connections, enhance well-being, and unite the community through the beauty and benefits of nature.
Spring Event Highlights at Moncus Park:
Springfest, in partnership with the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market
- Date: Saturday, April 20
- Time: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Details: Experience the best of the Park at Moncus Park’s SpringFest, a vibrant park showcase filled with fun activities, a farmer’s market, delicious food, yoga, games, nature tours, and environmental talks. Get your groove on with tunes from the Cajun Jam and Swampland String Band, making it the ultimate day out for fun, learning, and making connections under the sun. Free to attend. Free parking and shuttle service from Blackham Coliseum’s Cabbage Patch Lot from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Food Truck Friday: Family Night Out presented by Home Bank

- Details: Get ready for three fun-filled evenings with Food Truck Friday: Family Night Out, brought to you by Home Bank. Dive into a feast from local food trucks featuring everything from chicken wings and creole to gourmet sweet treats, enjoy a drink from the bar and chill to live music from local talents, all set in beautiful Moncus Park at sunset. Free to attend. Parking is available at 2913 Johnston Street in the paved and grassy parking areas. Our friendly parking attendants will guide you to the perfect spot. Avoid parking in lots belonging to nearby businesses to avoid the risk of towing.

Designed to promote holistic well-being and vibrant community engagement, these programs welcome individuals of all ages and fitness levels, ensuring an inclusive and impactful health journey for every participant.

Join “Mom Walks” with Acadiana Baby Steps, proudly presented by Lafayette Pediatric Dentistry, and immerse yourself in a growing community of Lafayette mothers dedicated to embracing motherhood and the beauty of the outdoors. Our gatherings at Moncus Park feature walking, picnicking, and building a nurturing network for moms at various stages of their motherhood adventure.

The Community Hour
The Community Hour at Moncus Park is a vibrant program that unites the community through themed social hours, including a community drum circle, trivia and game nights, and park tours. Nature & Environmental Education
Moncus Park’s nature and environmental education programs connect nature lovers and environmental enthusiasts through a diverse array of activities, from bird walks and surveys that explore local avian species to engaging talks with Master Gardeners and hands-on experiences with the Conservation Club focusing on trees, trails, and native plants.

- Meeting location: Park at Blackham Coliseum’s Cabbage Patch lot and enjoy a shuttle ride to and from Moncus Park where the walk and survey will take place.
- Conservation Club

- Time: 12:00 p.m.
- The Conservation Club provides an outlet for environmental enthusiasts to lend an extra set of hands in protecting Moncus Park’s natural assets. Club members will learn from and work alongside key team members and community experts, building lasting relationships and increasing knowledge about park ecosystems and operations. Dog Training by Jesse
Old dogs CAN learn new tricks (and your puppy can too!) Join Jesse Walls for positive reinforcement dog training classes. This program is free and open to the public. This training series spans 10 weeks and is suitable for all ages, experience, and breeds. This program is an on-leash dog training located in park circle. Registration is mandatory.
