FIELD TRIPS AT MONCUS PARK

Moncus Park offers the perfect setting for students to learn, explore, and connect with nature. Choose from our guided educational programs or create your own self-guided adventure.

Booking is required for all field trips. Groups that arrive without a reservation will be turned away. If a date is unavailable in our system, the park has reached capacity for that day.

Field Trip Options

Free K–12 Open Play	School year only	Free	Self-guided, open play. No staff programming included. Booking is still required, and bus parking must be selected during booking to be guaranteed.
Guided Field Trips Conservation Team Led	Tuesdays & Thursdays, year-round	$5 per student + tax	Staff-led educational programming with our Conservation Team. Teachers and chaperones riding the bus are not charged. Guests arriving in personal vehicles park at the standard $2/hour rate. A deposit is required at booking.
Summer Camp Camps & Youth Programs	Summer & school breaks	$25 per bus + tax	Bus parking must be selected and paid at the time of booking. Capacity limits are strictly enforced during summer. Groups that are not booked or exceed their reserved capacity may be turned away.

Guided Field Trip Payment Details

A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your date.
Your remaining balance is automatically calculated by our booking system.
Final payment may be made by check on the day of your visit. Payment must be received in full to participate.
Any changes to student count must be communicated at least one week before your visit. Balances cannot be adjusted on site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do field trips need to be booked in advance?

All field trips must be booked in advance to help us manage park capacity, bus parking, staffing, and student safety. When playgrounds become overcrowded, the risk of accidents increases. Advance booking allows us to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for every group.

What does it mean if a date is unavailable?

If a date or time is unavailable in our booking system, the park has reached capacity for that day. We are unable to accept additional field trips once capacity is met due to bus parking limitations and playground safety concerns.

Is bus parking limited?

Yes, bus parking is very limited. All groups arriving by bus must book in advance and select the correct number of buses during booking. Field trips that do not book, select the wrong number of buses, or arrive outside their scheduled time may be turned away.

What happens if we arrive early or late?

Arriving excessively early or late can disrupt other scheduled field trips and create overcrowding. Groups that arrive outside their scheduled window may not be accommodated and may be turned away.

Are capacity limits enforced during summer?

Yes. Summer is one of our busiest seasons and capacity limits are strictly enforced to prevent overcrowded playgrounds and unsafe conditions. Trips that are not booked or exceed their reserved capacity may be turned away.

We offer a variety of educational resources to enhance your field trip experience — from scavenger hunts of the Arboretum, Park, Cajun Prairie, and Lake Reaux to environmental education materials about Heritage Oaks, Louisiana Irises, Park Trees, and more. These hands-on activities are designed for students of all ages to learn about nature, conservation, and local ecosystems while having fun at the park.
