One on One with Hannah Louise

Meet Hannah Louise.

Hannah’s passion for the art of photography shows her dream making those lasting memories with family and friends. If she had to choose between holding a cup of hot coffee or my camera, you can bet she’d choose both. This South Louisiana native enjoys spending time with her husband Jonathan. and their four-legged fur child Jonathan when she’d not at a session or editing.

What made us pursue Hannah Louise is her passion to capture outdoor moments over a decade. This small town girl is not afraid of new opportunities to tell the story from behind the lens.

What was your initial reaction when you received confirmation to appear in our inaugural blog?

I was very excited to have received that email! I’m looking forward to being a part of this great event in our community, as we all get to visit the park again for this Christmas event!

How did your photography journey begin?

I was in my middle school years when I started to become fascinated with a camera. I remember having a simple point and shoot digital camera, and would take it around to events, family gatherings, and weekends with friends. My step mom then introduced me to her Minolta 35mm film camera that she used when taking some photography classes in college. She gave me the camera and I began to use it and learn more about it. I became interested in studying more, and was able to enroll in a photography class in High School as one of my Art electives. Around this time is when I knew that Photography is what I wanted to pursue. I attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, concentrating in Photography. After building my portfolio for quite some time, I started my photography business in 2019, and later took the jump to go full time with my photography business at the start of 2021.

Which photographers influenced you, and how did they influence your thinking, photographing, and career path?

First and foremost, I have always been influenced by my two photography professors in College, Lynda Frese and Jamie Baldridge. The both of them had their individual ways of instilling in us the best knowledge of concept and technicality to put towards the work that we created then, and now. I am also influenced by Dorthea Lange with the way she documented her subjects and firstly connected with them, Edward Burtynsky for the way he photographs landscapes that often show the impacts that humans have on nature, and Annie Leibovitz for the way that she often combines the figure with landscape and fashion with a 21st century twist.

What technology/software/camera gear do you use to keep focused on what you do best, as you photograph?

I absolutely love my Nikon D750 DSLR Camera. I use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom for post processing on my MacBook Pro.

How do you get your photography to say what you want to say without using words?

I specialize in Family and Milestone photography, so I would have to say that human connection and interaction is what speaks for itself in my photos.

What do you envision when you hear “Landscape View”?

Being heavily influenced by Landscape photography, I think of the landscape view as the wide landscape itself with what’s happening on it from the outside looking in.

What do you look forward to most capturing at Christmas in the Park ?

I look forward to capturing the absolute Christmas joy that this event will bring to so many people in the community that attend.
